Seeing that well-made, handsome hut—firmly set and walled with bound mats—Rama spoke these words to Lakshmana, who stood attentive, waiting to serve.
Rama saw the good-looking leaf-hut with mats tied around as walls, and said to Lakshmana who was awaiting further command with rapt attention:
Dharma is conscientious service and mindful attention: Lakshmana’s readiness to serve (śuśrūṣā) and focused presence (ekāgratā) are portrayed as ethical excellence.
After the hut is completed, Rama observes it and then addresses Lakshmana, who stands by attentively for further instruction.
Lakshmana’s disciplined devotion—steadfast, attentive service without distraction.
