चित्रकूटमार्गोपदेशः — Instructions for the Chitrakuta Route and the Yamuna Crossing

अवलोक्य तत स्सीतामायाचन्तीमनिन्दिताम्।दयितां च विधेयां च रामो लक्ष्मणमब्रवीत्।।।।

avalokya tataḥ sītām āyācantīm aninditām |

dayitāṃ ca vidheyāṃ ca rāmo lakṣmaṇam abravīt ||2.55.26||

Then, seeing Sītā—blemishless, beloved, and obedient—seeking blessings, Rāma spoke to Lakṣmaṇa.

Beholding the obedient, blemishless, beloved Sita invoking blessings, Rama said to Lakhsmana:

R
Rama
S
Sita
L
Lakshmana

Dharma is mutual regard within the family unit: Sita’s reverent conduct and Rama’s attentive leadership frame the exile as a shared, disciplined moral undertaking.

After Sita’s prayerful act, Rama observes her and then turns to speak to Lakshmana, indicating the next instruction or decision in their journey.

Sita’s blameless devotion and Rama’s mindful responsibility—he notices her conduct and coordinates action through Lakshmana.
