अयोध्याकाण्डे एकपञ्चाशः सर्गः — Guha’s Vigil and Lakṣmaṇa’s Lament (Night on the riverbank)
तं जाग्रतमदम्भेन भ्रातुरर्थाय लक्ष्मणम्।गुहः सन्तापसन्तप्तो राघवं वाक्यमब्रवीत्।।।।
yo na devāsuraiḥ sarvaiḥ śakyaḥ prasahituṁ yudhi |
taṁ paśya sukha-saṁviṣṭaṁ tṛṇeṣu saha sītayā || 2.51.10 ||
Behold—he whom all the gods and demons together cannot withstand in battle lies here at ease upon mere grass, with Sītā.
Deeply moved to see Lakshmana, scion of the Raghus, keeping awake all night without any pretence for his brother's sake, Guha spoke.
True greatness aligns power with humility: though invincible in war, Rāma accepts hardship without complaint, honoring satya and the discipline of exile.
Guha marvels at the contrast between Rāma’s unmatched martial might and his simple sleeping arrangement on grass during exile, alongside Sītā.
Rāma’s humility and endurance (kṣamā/dhairya), and Sītā’s steadfast companionship in hardship.
