Having said to the king, “So be it,” the venerable Vasiṣṭha—foremost among the knowers of the Vedas—set out in person for Rāma’s residence.

Having ascended the royal palace resembling the peak of a mountain covered with white clouds, Vasistha approached the king like Brihaspati meeting Indra.

Dharma here is duty performed with fidelity to one’s role: the royal priest responds truthfully (“so be it”) and proceeds personally to carry out the consecratory responsibilities.

After agreeing to the king’s request connected to the forthcoming ceremony, Vasiṣṭha departs for Rāma’s residence.

Vasiṣṭha’s reliability and disciplined service (steadfast adherence to ritual and responsibility) are emphasized.
