अभिषेकोपवास-आदेशः (Coronation Preparations and the Fast Enjoined)
सिक्तसम्मृष्टरथ्या हि तदहर्वनमालिनी।आसीदयोध्यानगरी समुच्छ्रितगृहध्वजा।।।।
janabṛndormisaṅgharṣaharṣasvanavatas tadā |
babhūva rājamārgasya sāgarasyeva nisvanaḥ ||
Then along the royal highway arose a sound like the roar of the sea—like waves colliding—so did the joyful clamor of the multitude surge and resound.
On that day, the thoroughfares of the city of Ayodhya, surrounded with (pleasure) gardens, were sprinkled with water and swept. The flags (on the top) of the houses were raised high.
Dharma is reflected as shared rejoicing in rightful succession: public emotion aligns with moral-political legitimacy.
The narration compares the loud, joyful crowd-noise on the main road to the ocean’s roaring waves.
The virtue is communal: collective gladness rooted in trust in Rāma’s righteous character.
