अयोध्यावासिजनानुरागः — The People and Brahmins Follow Rama toward Exile
पद्भ्यामेव जगामाथ ससीत स्सहलक्ष्मणः।सन्निकृष्टपदन्यासो रामो वनपरायणः।।।।
evam ārta-pralāpāṃs tān vृद्धān pralapato dvijān |
avekṣya sahasā rāmo rathād avatātāra ha ||
Seeing those aged brahmins lamenting so piteously, Rāma at once descended from the chariot.
Then Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana began walking on foot with slow steps towards the forest.
Dharma here is expressed as immediate compassion and respect: Rama does not ignore the suffering of elders and spiritual leaders.
Brahmins are lamenting as Rama departs; Rama notices them and promptly gets down from the chariot.
Rama’s empathy and humility—he responds physically and immediately to others’ distress.
