प्रयाणवर्णनम् (Departure from Ayodhya; Civic Lament and the Chariot’s Urgency)
ररथमारोह भद्रं ते राजपुत्र महायशः।क्षिप्रं त्वां प्रापयिष्यामि यत्र मां राम वक्ष्यसि।।।।
rathaṃ āroha bhadraṃ te rājaputra mahāyaśaḥ | kṣipraṃ tvāṃ prāpayiṣyāmi yatra māṃ rāma vakṣyasi ||2.40.11||
“O prince of great renown, blessings upon you—mount the chariot. I shall swiftly take you wherever you, Rāma, direct me.”
O Illustrious prince, wish you well! Mount the chariot. I shall convey you speedily whereever you want.
Dharma of faithful service: Sumantra offers prompt assistance, subordinating his will to Rāma’s righteous direction.
Sumantra invites Rāma to board the chariot and promises to drive him quickly wherever Rāma commands.
Loyalty and readiness to serve—speed and obedience guided by respect.
