“Tomorrow, when Puṣya is in ascendance, my son Rāma—lotus-eyed with copper-red hues—shall be consecrated as yuvārāja, the heir-apparent,” declared the king.
After the citizens departed, the king, an expert in decisionmaking again consulted his counsellors and said, Tomorrow Pushya star is in the ascendence and my son, Rama (handsome) with coppercoloured eyes which resemble red lotus petals will be installed heirapparent.
A king should establish rightful succession in a timely and orderly manner, safeguarding stability—an aspect of rajadharma.
After the public meeting, Daśaratha finalizes the decision that Rāma will be installed as yuvarāja on the auspicious day indicated by Puṣya.
Daśaratha’s decisiveness and commitment to legitimate, dharmic succession through formal consecration.
