O hero, I have tasted the pleasures I sought; and toward the gods, the rishis, the ancestors, and the brahmins—as also toward my own self—I am now free of debt.

O mighty son! I have experienced all the pleasures I longed for. I redeemed my debt to the gods, the sages, my ancestors, brahmins and to myself.

Dharma is framed as repayment of life’s obligations (ṛṇa): to divine order, tradition, teachers/priests, ancestors, and one’s own conscience.

Daśaratha explains that he has completed the major obligations of a king and householder, preparing the ground for succession.

Conscientious fulfillment of duties—Daśaratha’s sense of moral accounting before handing over power.
