सुमन्त्रस्य कैकेयी-निन्दा (Sumantra’s Reproof of Kaikeyi in the Royal Assembly)
राजा भवतु ते पुत्रो भरतश्शास्तु मेदिनीम्।वयं तत्र गमिष्यामो रामो यत्र गमिष्यति।।2.35.10।।
rājā bhavatu te putro bharataḥ śāstu medinīm | vayaṃ tatra gamiṣyāmo rāmo yatra gamiṣyati ||2.35.10||
Let your son Bharata become king and rule the earth; we all will go there—wherever Rāma goes.
Let your son Bharata be king and rule the earth. All of us will go whereever Rama goes.
Dharma is loyalty to righteousness rather than to office: the community’s allegiance follows the morally rightful person (Rāma), not the throne.
Sumantra rebukes Kaikeyī by declaring that even if Bharata rules, everyone will still accompany Rāma into exile.
Steadfast devotion to Rāma and commitment to moral legitimacy over political gain.
