Eating fruits and roots in the forest, and gazing on mountains, rivers, and lakes—entering that woodland of varied trees—I shall be happy. Let there be peace for you.
Entering the forest full of various kinds of trees I shall be happy to view the mountains, rivers and the lakes and to eat fruits and roots. (Hence) do not grieve.
Contentment in dharmic hardship: righteousness transforms exile into a disciplined, peaceful life rather than a punishment.
Rāma reassures Daśaratha that forest life will not be misery for him, asking him to be at peace.
Santoṣa (contentment) and resilience rooted in duty.
