Shloka 2.31.14
लक्ष्मणस्य वनानुगमन-प्रतिज्ञा तथा आयुध-संग्रहः (Lakshmana’s Vow to Follow Rama and the Retrieval of Divine Weapons)
न स्मरिष्यति कौसल्यां सुमित्रां च सुदुःखिताम्।भरतो राज्यमासाद्य कैकेय्यां पर्यवस्थितः।।।।
na smariṣyati kausalyāṃ sumitrāṃ ca suduḥkhitām |
bharato rājyam āsādya kaikeyyāṃ paryavasthitaḥ || 2.31.14 ||
When Bharata attains the kingdom, resting his trust in Kaikeyī, he will not remember Kausalyā and Sumitrā, who is plunged in grievous sorrow.
When Bharata secures the kingdom, his confidence reposed in Kaikeyi he will not bother about the miserable Kausalya and Sumitra.
Dharma includes impartial care for all rightful dependents; political loyalty must not erase remembrance of those who suffer and deserve protection.
Rāma expresses anxiety that Bharata, influenced by Kaikeyī and the new regime, may neglect the other queens.
Rāma’s protective sense of duty toward his mothers and his realism about courtly influence.
