अभिषेक-निवृत्ति-उपदेशः (Withdrawal of the Coronation: Rama’s Counsel to Lakshmana)
कृतान्तस्त्वेव सौमित्रे द्रष्टव्यो मत्प्रवासने।राज्यस्य च वितीर्णस्य पुनरेव निवर्तने।।।।
kṛtāntas tv eva saumitre draṣṭavyo mat-pravāsane | rājyasya ca vitīrṇasya punar eva nivartane ||
O Saumitri, in my exile—and in the revocation of the kingdom that had been granted—destiny alone should be recognized as the cause.
If the award of the kingdom to me is revoked, O Lakshmana, and if I am banished in this manner, see, it is destiny.
Dharma is non-vengeful acceptance: by attributing events to destiny, Rāma discourages retaliatory action and preserves moral order.
Rāma frames both the loss of kingship and the exile as outcomes to be borne without upheaval.
