Shloka 2.2.46

यौवराज्य-प्रस्तावः (Proposal for Rāma’s Installation as Heir-Apparent)

युनक्त्यर्थैः प्रहृष्टश्च तमसौ यत्र तुष्यति।।2.2.46।।शान्तै स्सर्वप्रजाकान्तैः प्रीतिसञ्जननैर्नृणाम्।गुणैर्विरुरुचे रामो दीप्त स्सूर्य इवांशुभिः।।2.2.47।।

yunakty arthaiḥ prahṛṣṭaś ca tam asau yatra tuṣyati | śāntaiḥ sarvaprajākāntaiḥ prītisañjananair nṛṇām | guṇair viruruce rāmo dīptaḥ sūrya ivāṃśubhiḥ || 2.2.46-47 ||

Whenever he is pleased, that Rāma gladly bestows wealth; and with tranquil virtues—beloved of all subjects and delight-giving to people—Rāma shines like the radiant sun with its rays.

When pleased, Rama bestows wealth. Like the Sun shining with his rays, He shines with his qualities of tranquil, charming and loving nature.

Dharmic generosity and gentle conduct: wealth is bestowed when merited, and inner calm becomes a public blessing, like sunlight.

Continuing their eulogy, the ministers describe how Rāma rewards well and is universally loved for his peaceful virtues.

Dāna (generosity) guided by discernment, and śānti (tranquility) that wins the hearts of the people.
