Shloka 2.112.16

पादुकाप्रदानम् (The Gift of the Sandals and Delegated Kingship)

आगता त्वामियं बुद्धिस्स्वजा वैनयिकी च या।भृशमुत्सहसे तात रक्षितुं पृथिवीमपि।।2.112.16।।

tam aṅke bharataṃ kṛtvā rāmo vacanam abravīt | śyāmaṃ nalinapatrākṣaṃ mattahaṃsasvaraṃ svayam || 2.112.15 ||

Drawing Bharata into his lap, Rāma himself spoke—Bharata dark-hued, lotus-petaled in his eyes, and sweet-voiced like an intoxicated swan.

O child, this wisdom of yours is both inborn and imbibed through training. With this,you are perfectly capable of protecting the earth.

Dharma is upheld with compassion: even amid political crisis, familial tenderness and reconciliation guide action.

After Bharata’s prostration and plea, Rāma responds by embracing him and beginning his reply.
