Shloka 2.102.33
पितृमरणश्रवणं जलक्रिया च (Hearing of Daśaratha’s death and the libation rites at Mandākinī)
तेषां तु रुदतां शब्दात् प्रतिशब्दोऽभवद् गिरौ।भ्रातॄणां सह वैदेह्या सिंहानां नर्दतामिव।।।।
tēṣāṃ tu rudatāṃ śabdāt pratiśabdo ’bhavad girau |
bhrātṝṇāṃ saha vaidēhyā siṃhānām iva nardatām ||
From the brothers’ weeping—together with Vaidehī—an echo arose on the mountain, like the roaring of lions.
The mountain echoed with the sound of lamentations of all the brothers along with Sita which resembled the roar of lions.
Dharma includes truthful emotion aligned with duty: grief for a father and king is not weakness but a righteous acknowledgment of loss and obligation.
Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana, and Sita lament together; the intensity of their crying reverberates across the mountain.
Filial devotion and sincerity: the brothers’ grief reflects reverence for their father and the moral weight of his passing.
