O Rāghava, they say that what is offered by one who is dear becomes imperishable in the world of the ancestors—and you indeed were dear to our father.
O son of Raghu's race, it is said that whatever is offered by a dear son becomes eternal in the world of manes. You alone are the beloved son of our father.
Offerings made with sincere filial love are held to have enduring spiritual efficacy; dharma is fulfilled through both rite and right intention.
Bharata motivates Rama to perform the ancestral offering by noting its special merit when done by a beloved son.
Rama’s filial belovedness and Bharata’s humility—he acknowledges Rama’s unique place in their father’s heart.
