गुणप्रशंसा–युवराजनिर्णयः (Praise of Rama’s Virtues and the Decision on the Heir-Apparent)
अथ राजवितीर्णेषु विविधेष्वासनेषु च।।।।राजानमेवाभिमुखाः निषेदुर्नियता नृपाः।
atha rājavitīrṇeṣu vividheṣv āsaneṣu ca |
rājānam evābhimukhāḥ niṣedur niyatā nṛpāḥ ||
Then those kings, observing royal custom, sat on the various seats assigned by the king—facing him alone.
Then the kings (who entered the assembly) took the seats assigned to them facing the king (Dasaratha), following the royal tradition.
Institutional dharma: adherence to established norms (niyama/maryādā) prevents disorder and safeguards respectful deliberation.
The visiting kings take their places in the hall in a prescribed manner, oriented toward Daśaratha as the presiding monarch.
Self-control and respect for order—public discipline as a sign of cultivated kingship.
