गुणप्रशंसा–युवराजनिर्णयः (Praise of Rama’s Virtues and the Decision on the Heir-Apparent)
तथा सर्वप्रजाकान्तैः प्रीतिसंजननैः पितुः।।।।गुणैर्विरुरुचे रामो दीप्तस्सूर्य इवांशुभिः।
tathā sarvaprajākāntaiḥ prītisañjananaiḥ pituḥ | guṇair viruruce rāmo dīptaḥ sūrya ivāṃśubhiḥ |
So too, with virtues beloved of all the people and bringing joy to his father, Rāma shone—like the radiant Sun with its rays.
Rama whose virtues were cherished by all his subjects was a source of delight to his father and he shone like the rays of the resplendent Sun.
Dharma-bearing virtue naturally becomes a public good: it wins the people’s love and brings rightful joy to elders, like sunlight benefiting all.
The narration emphasizes Rāma’s popularity and the delight he gives to Daśaratha, strengthening the case for his coronation.
Beneficence and lovable conduct: virtues that attract the affection of the whole populace.
