गुणप्रशंसा–युवराजनिर्णयः (Praise of Rama’s Virtues and the Decision on the Heir-Apparent)
तत्रापि निवसन्तौ तौ तर्प्यमाणौ च कामतः।भ्रातरौ स्मरतां वीरौ वृद्धं दशरथं नृपम्।।।।
tatrāpi nivasantau tau tarpyamāṇau ca kāmataḥ | bhrātarau smaratāṃ vīrau vṛddhaṃ daśarathaṃ nṛpam ||
Even while dwelling there, content as they wished, the two heroic brothers kept remembering their aged father, King Daśaratha.
Though both the heroic brothers stayed there satisfied on their own they constantly remembered their aged father.
Filial dharma: even in comfort, one remains mindful of duty and affection toward parents, especially an aged father.
The narration notes the brothers’ inner state: despite being satisfied where they are, their thoughts return to Daśaratha.
Gratitude and familial loyalty—steady remembrance and concern for their father.
