सुतीक्ष्णाश्रमप्रस्थानम् (Departure from Sutikshna’s Hermitage)
एवमुक्तस्तथेत्युक्त्वा काकुत्स्थस्सहलक्ष्मणः।प्रदक्षिणं मुनिं कृत्वा प्रस्थातुमुपचक्रमे।।।।
evam uktaḥ tathety uktvā kākutsthaḥ saha-lakṣmaṇaḥ |
pradakṣiṇaṃ muniṃ kṛtvā prasthātum upacakrame ||
Thus instructed, Rāma of the Kakutsthas, together with Lakṣmaṇa, replied, “So be it.” Reverently circumambulating the sage to the right, he then began to set out.
Thus addressed, Rama, scion of the Kakutsthas along with Lakshmana circumambulated the sage (in reverence) and set forth.
It emphasizes respectful compliance with wise counsel and ritual reverence—dharma expressed through humility, assent, and honouring saints.
After receiving Sūtīkṣṇa’s guidance, Rama agrees and formally takes leave by circumambulating the sage before departing.
Rama’s maryādā (propriety) and gratitude; Lakshmana’s steadfast participation in dharmic conduct.
