Though I begged him, he did not send me to Yama’s abode; instead he told me, “Let the Creator’s word be made true.”
Entreated, he did not send me to the abode of Yama ( lord of death) and said, 'Let the words of the creator be true' .
Satya (truth) is binding: divine and moral order depend on keeping a pledged word. Even a powerful god defers to the Creator’s decree so that truth is not violated.
Kabandha explains that Indra refused to grant him immediate death, because a prior pronouncement by the Creator had to be fulfilled.
Commitment to satya and respect for rightful authority—Indra models restraint by honoring Brahmā’s word.
