सीताहरणोत्तरं लङ्काप्रवेशः — Sita’s Abduction and Ravana’s Entry into Lanka
सम्भ्रमात्परिवृत्तोर्मी रुद्धमीनमहोरगः।।।।वैदेह्यां ह्रियमाणायां बभूव वरुणालयः।
tatas tu sītām upalabhya rāvaṇaḥ susamprahṛṣṭaḥ parigṛhya maithilīm |
prasajya rāmeṇa ca vairam uttamaṃ babhūva mohān muditaḥ sa rākṣasaḥ ||
Then, having obtained Sītā and taken Maithilī into his power, Rāvaṇa was filled with joy; yet, deluded by folly, that rākṣasa became the instigator of the fiercest enmity with Rāma.
While Sita, princess of Videha was being carried away, the ocean, abode of Varunagot bewildered, waves rolled back, the movement of big serpents and fishes stopped.
Delusion (moha) makes adharma appear as success; dharma teaches that wrongful gain inevitably turns into conflict and ruin.
Rāvaṇa rejoices after capturing Sītā, but this very act forges the most terrible enmity between him and Rāma.
Rāma’s implied steadfast dharma: the narrative signals that righteousness will answer wrongdoing, making enmity a consequence of violated moral order.
