Shloka 3.45.9
सीतया लक्ष्मणप्रेषणम् — Sita urges Lakshmana to seek Rama (The crisis of the ‘distressed voice’)
इति ब्रुवाणां वैदेहीं बाष्पशोकपरिप्लुताम्।।3.45.9।।अब्रवील्लक्ष्मणस्त्रस्तां सीतां मृगवधूमिव।
iti bruvāṇāṃ vaidehīṃ bāṣpaśokapariplutām | abravīl lakṣmaṇaḥ trastāṃ sītāṃ mṛgavadhūm iva || 3.45.9 ||
As Vaidehī spoke thus—overwhelmed by tears and grief, frightened like a doe—Lakṣmaṇa replied to the trembling Sītā.
While Sita thus spoke, flooded with tears of sorrow, frightened like a doe, Lakshmana replied :
Dharma here is reflected in responsible speech and duty-bound response: Lakṣmaṇa answers Sītā in a moment of fear and grief, indicating the obligation to guide and protect through words when emotions overwhelm.
Sītā, distressed and weeping, speaks anxiously; Lakṣmaṇa responds to her, marking a tense turning point just before the crisis around the hermitage intensifies.
Lakṣmaṇa’s steadiness under pressure—his readiness to respond and act despite Sītā’s fear—highlights vigilance and dutiful composure.
