Shloka 3.45.19

सीतया लक्ष्मणप्रेषणम् — Sita urges Lakshmana to seek Rama (The crisis of the ‘distressed voice’)

राक्षसा विविधा वाचो विसृजन्ति महावने।।3.45.19।।हिंसाविहारा वैदेहि न चिन्तयितुमर्हसि।

na hi me hṛdayaṃ sthāne jīvitaṃ vā ’vatiṣṭhati | krośataḥ paramārtasya śrutaḥ śabdo mayā bhṛśam || 3.45.2 || ākrandamānaṃ tu vane bhrātaraṃ trātum arhasi |

My heart—and even my very life—does not stay steady; I clearly heard a voice crying out in extreme distress. You must go and protect your brother, who is wailing in pain in the forest.

These demons wander about tormenting others and spreading rumours of all kinds.You need not worry about them.

Sītā believes she has heard Rāma’s anguished cry from the forest and urges Lakṣmaṇa to go to him immediately.
