विराधवधः — The Slaying (Burial) of Viradha
स भग्नबाहुस्सविग्नो निपपाताशु राक्षसः।धरण्यां मेघसङ्काशो वज्रभिन्न इवाचलः।।।।
tad eva rāmeṇa niśamya bhāṣitaṃ kṛtā matis tasya bila-praveśane | bilaṃ ca rāmeṇātibalena rakṣasā praveśyamānena vanaṃ vināditam ||
Hearing those very words, Rāma resolved to consign him into a pit; and as the exceedingly strong rākṣasa was being forced into it by Rāma, the forest rang out with his cries.
With both shoulders broken, the demon, looking like a cloud (huge and dark) fell at once on the ground like a mountain split by a thunderbolt.
Right means aligned with truth: once the true condition is known, dharma chooses an effective, proportionate method to end harm.
Rāma decides to neutralize Virādha by forcing him into a pit, since weapons are ineffective.
Presence of mind and decisive leadership.
