विराधवधः — The Slaying (Burial) of Viradha
ततः खनित्रमादाय लक्ष्मणश्श्वभ्रमुत्तमम्।अखनत्पार्श्वतस्तस्य विराधस्य महात्मनः।।।।
tataḥ khanitram ādāya lakṣmaṇaḥ śvabhram uttamam |
akhanat pārśvatas tasya virādhasya mahātmanaḥ ||
Then Lakṣmaṇa, taking up a spade, dug an excellent pit beside that great-souled Virādha.
Then Lakshmana fetched a spade and dug a sufficiently big pit by the side of the great soul Viradha.
Dharma as dutiful cooperation: Lakṣmaṇa carries out a righteous instruction promptly, supporting the shared mission without hesitation.
Lakṣmaṇa begins and completes the practical task of digging the pit as commanded by Rāma.
Lakṣmaṇa’s seva and discipline: loyal execution of duty in support of dharmic action.
