एकोनचत्वारिंशः सर्गः (Aranyakanda 39): राक्षसस्य रामत्रासवर्णनम् / The Demon’s Account of Rama-Fear
एवमस्मि तदा मुक्तः कथञ्चित्तेन संयुगे।इदानीमपि यद्वृत्तं तच्छृणुष्व निरुत्तरम्।।।।
evam asmi tadā muktaḥ kathañcit tena saṅyuge | idānīm api yad vṛttaṁ tac chṛṇuṣva niruttaram ||
Thus, in that battle, I was somehow spared by him; now too, listen without interruption to what has happened recently.
I was somehow saved by him this way in the combat.Listen without any reply to what has taken place recently.
Truthful reporting (satya) in counsel: one must speak plainly about danger and consequences, especially to restrain harmful action.
A rākṣasa begins recounting how he previously escaped alive and asks Rāvaṇa to listen to the recent events without interrupting.
Candor born of experience: the speaker insists on being heard fully to convey a warning.
