Shloka 3.13.24

पञ्चवटी-निर्देशः (Agastya Directs Rama to Panchavati)

ततः स्थलमुपारुह्य पर्वतस्याविदूरतः।ख्यातः पञ्चवटीत्येव नित्यपुष्पितकाननः।।।।

yathaiṣā ramate rāma iha sītā tathā kuru | duṣkaraṃ kṛtavaty eṣā vane tvām anugacchatī ||

O Rāma, act in such a way that Sītā may find joy here. By following you into the forest, she has accomplished what is truly difficult.

Then climb the elevated ground not very far from the mountain. There is the well-known Panchavati with forests, ever in full bloom.

Protective responsibility: Rama’s dharma includes ensuring the wellbeing and contentment of one who has chosen hardship out of love and loyalty.

Agastya counsels Rama to be attentive to Sītā’s happiness during their forest exile.

Rama’s compassion and considerate leadership (anukampā and maryādā) toward Sītā.
