Narration of the Battle with Bāṇāsura (Aniruddha–Uṣā Episode and Hari–Hara Encounter)

This chapter connects the Yādava lineage with the Aniruddha–Uṣā romance. Pradyumna—an aṃśa of Madana—is born to Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Rukmiṇī, and Aniruddha is born thereafter. Uṣā dreams of a divine youth; Citralekhā recognizes him by drawing portraits and, through māyā, abducts Aniruddha from Dvārakā to Māhiṣmatī. When the matter is discovered, Aniruddha routs Bāṇa’s guards but is bound by a serpent-weapon. Kṛṣṇa arrives; Śiva, constrained by a boon to protect Bāṇa, fights Kṛṣṇa. The fevers tāpajvara and śītajvara manifest, and hearing of the Hari–Hara battle is said to remove disease. Kṛṣṇa subdues Śiva with the Mohana-weapon; Pārvatī pleads for restoration, and Śiva praises Kṛṣṇa’s supreme lordship. Kṛṣṇa spares Bāṇa after severing many arms; reconciliation follows, Aniruddha is freed, and the marriage is duly performed before the return to Dvārakā.
