The Glory of Pippalāda Tīrtha: Dadhīca, the Kṛtyā, and the Hidden Ford in Kali-yuga
Śiva tells Pārvatī of a purifying and delightful tīrtha called Pippalāda, near Dugdhēśvara on the bank of the Sābhramatī, yet hidden in the Kali age. Those seeking release from ancestral debt (pitṛ-ṛṇa) should go to Dadhīca’s sacred place, bathe there, and drink its water, which is said to remove even the grave sin of brahmahatyā. When Pārvatī asks why a kṛtyā was produced and what she had done before, Śiva explains that Dadhīca came here to perform intense tapas, but Kolāsura arrived to obstruct it. Seeing this, the virtuous son of Kāhoḍa generated a kṛtyā for slaying; she killed Kolāsura, and from that event the tīrtha’s potency arose. Śiva also enjoins the ritual planting of pippala trees as a deed that loosens karmic bonds and grants sacred merit.
