The Greatness of Śrī Rādhāṣṭamī

Rādhā’s Birth-Eighth Observance

इति श्रुत्वापि सा राधाप्यागता पृथिवीं ततः । भाद्रे मासि सिते पक्षे अष्टमीसंज्ञिके तिथौ

Even after hearing this, Rādhā then came to the earth—on Aṣṭamī, the eighth lunar day, in the bright fortnight of the month of Bhādra.

Concept: Sacred time (tithi, pakṣa, māsa) is a vehicle of grace; divine events occur on auspicious calendrical nodes that later become vrata/festival observances.

Application: Mark sacred days intentionally—use tithi-based observances (fasting, japa, dāna) to align personal life with dharmic rhythms.

FAQs

It indicates the Aṣṭamī (8th lunar day) occurring in the bright fortnight (śukla pakṣa) of the lunar month Bhādra.

It functions as a chronological marker, stating that after hearing the preceding message/event, Rādhā arrives on earth at a specifically auspicious calendrical time.

Such details anchor events in sacred time, support ritual/observance traditions tied to particular tithis, and help listeners associate narratives with calendrical auspiciousness.
