Transliteration

kva gacchāmi kva tiṣṭhāmi kārttikavratino bhayāt | paurṇamāsyāṃ yathāśakti cānnavastrādikaṃ dvija

Translation

“Where shall I go, and where shall I stay, out of fear of those who observe the Kārttika vow?” On the full-moon day, O brāhmaṇa, one should, according to one’s capacity, give food, clothing, and the like.
