Gaṅgā-māhātmya
नमो नारायणायेति प्रणवाद्यं नियम्य च । षण्मासं जपतः सर्वा ह्युपतिष्ठंति सिद्धयः ॥ २९ ॥
namo nārāyaṇāyeti praṇavādyaṃ niyamya ca | ṣaṇmāsaṃ japataḥ sarvā hyupatiṣṭhaṃti siddhayaḥ || 29 ||
Having duly regulated the mantra that begins with the Praṇava—“Om, namo Nārāyaṇāya”—for one who repeats it in japa for six months, all siddhis indeed come and stand ready to serve.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: vira
It presents disciplined japa of “Om namo Nārāyaṇāya” as a sustained sādhanā where siddhis naturally arise as subordinate results, indicating the power of regulated devotion centered on Nārāyaṇa.
Bhakti is framed as steady, rule-governed remembrance (japa with niyama) of Nārāyaṇa’s name; the verse implies that consistent devotion over time draws divine support and secondary attainments without making siddhi the primary goal.
It emphasizes correct mantra-prayoga: beginning with Praṇava (linked to Śikṣā for proper recitation) and niyama (procedural discipline akin to Kalpa-style rulefulness) for sustained japa over a defined period.
