Śāpaprāpti (Receiving a Curse) — Mohinī Narrative
न लोकवादेन विदूषिताया लोकेषु कुत्रापि भवेच्च वासः । धिग्रजीवनं कर्ग्मविगर्हिताया देवाः सदा पापसमारतायाः ॥ ६१ ॥
na lokavādena vidūṣitāyā lokeṣu kutrāpi bhavecca vāsaḥ | dhigrajīvanaṃ kargmavigarhitāyā devāḥ sadā pāpasamāratāyāḥ || 61 ||
One tainted by public reproach finds no abiding place anywhere in the worlds. Fie upon the wretched life of one whose deeds are condemned, who is ever engaged in sin, and whom even the gods reject.

It warns that persistent sinful behavior destroys both worldly standing and spiritual support—so thoroughly that one loses a ‘place’ (vāsa) in society and in higher realms, becoming unfit for divine favor.
By contrast: a life “ever engaged in sin” is rejected by the devas; Narada’s broader teaching implies purification through dharma and sincere devotion—turning from condemned actions toward sattvic conduct that supports Vishnu-bhakti.
Primarily Dharma-śāstra style ethical discernment (not a technical Vedanga lesson): it emphasizes karma-viveka—judging actions (karman) as praiseworthy or blameworthy and aligning conduct with śāstric standards.
