Matsya Purana — Cosmic Architecture of Sun–Moon and the ‘Houses of the Gods’

संवर्धनस्तु यो रश्मिः स योनिर्लोहितस्य च षष्ठस्तु ह्यश्वभू रश्मिर् योनिः स हि बृहस्पतेः //

saṃvardhanastu yo raśmiḥ sa yonirlohitasya ca ṣaṣṭhastu hyaśvabhū raśmir yoniḥ sa hi bṛhaspateḥ //

The sun-ray called Saṃvardhana is the source-womb (yoni) of Lohita (Mars). And the sixth ray, known as Aśvabhū, is indeed the source of Bṛhaspati (Jupiter).

FAQs

It does not describe Pralaya directly; it presents a cosmological mapping in which specific solar rays are treated as the generative sources (yoni) of planets like Mars and Jupiter.

Indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic idea that governance and household rites are aligned with cosmic order—knowledge of grahas and their origins underpins choosing auspicious times (muhūrta) for royal acts, vows, sacrifices, and domestic saṃskāras.

While not a Vāstu rule itself, it is relevant to ritual timing: temple consecrations, image installations, and major rites often consult Jupiter (Bṛhaspati) and Mars (Lohita) in jyotiṣa-based muhūrta selection.
