Adhyaya 76 — The Sixth Manvantara: Cakshusha Manu, the Child-Snatcher, and the Problem of Kinship
Sanskrit
आनन्द उवाच जातोऽहमवनीन्द्रस्य क्षत्रियस्य गृहे द्विज ।
तत्पत्न्यां गिरिभद्रायामाददे जातहारिणी ॥
Transliteration
ānanda uvāca jāto 'ham avanīndrasya kṣatriyasya gṛhe dvija | tatpatnyāṃ giribhadrāyām ādade jātahāriṇī ||
Translation
Ānanda said: “O Brahmin, I was born in the household of a Kṣatriya king. From his wife Giribhadrā, a woman who steals children carried me away.”
