Adhyaya 35 — Madālasa’s Instruction on Purity, Impurity, and Corrective Rites (Śauca and Aśauca)
प्रतोददण्डौ च तथा सम्यग्वर्णाः कृतक्रियाः ।
स्ववर्णधर्मनिर्दिष्टमुपादानं तथा क्रियाः ॥
pratodadaṇḍau ca tathā samyag varṇāḥ kṛtakriyāḥ /
svavarṇadharmanirdiṣṭam upādānaṃ tathā kriyāḥ
Likewise regarding the goad and the staff: the varṇas, having duly completed the rites, should take up the necessary implements again and perform the actions prescribed by the duties of their own varṇa.

Ritual life and social duty are coordinated: once purification and rites are completed, one returns to rightful responsibilities with proper instruments and conduct.
Normative dharma instruction; not a pañcalakṣaṇa category.
‘Staff and goad’ can be read as symbols of self-governance and direction: discipline (daṇḍa) and impetus (pratoda) applied first inwardly, then outwardly in action.
