Adhyaya 31 — Naimittika and Related Śrāddha Rites: Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa, Eligibility, Timing, and Procedure
पितृतīrthena तोयं च दद्यात्तेभ्यः समाहितः ।
पितॄniddiśya यद्भक्त्या यजमानो नृपात्मज ॥
pitṛtīrthena toyañca dadyāttebhyaḥ samāhitaḥ / pitṝniddiśya yadbhaktyā yajamāno nṛpātmaja
Composed and attentive, he should offer water to them using the pitṛ-tīrtha (the prescribed hand-position/channel for the ancestors). Whatever he does with devotion, dedicating it to the pitṛs, O prince’s son (nṛpātmaja), is the proper spirit of the act.

Technique (tīrtha) and intention (bhakti) must unite: the rite is not mechanical; devotion and collectedness are explicitly foregrounded.
Ācāra/dharma instruction; not pañcalakṣaṇa.
‘Tīrtha’ here is a micro-crossing: the hand becomes a ford through which offering flows, encoding the idea that the body itself can be a sacred instrument when properly oriented.
