Adhyaya 23 — Ashvatara’s Vow for Madalasa and the Bestowal of Musical Science by Sarasvati
iti śrīmārkaṇḍeyapurāṇe kuvalayāśvīye madālasāviyogo nāma dvāviṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ | trayoviṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ putrāvūcatuḥ sa rājaputraḥ saṃprāpya vegād ātmapuraṃ tataḥ | pitror avandiṣuḥ pādau didṛkṣuś ca madālasām ||
Thus, in the Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa, in the Kuvalayāśva cycle, ends the twenty-second chapter called “The Separation from Madālasā.” Now begins the twenty-third chapter. The two sons spoke. That prince, reaching swiftly his own city, then bowed at his parents’ feet and wished to see Madālasā.

The narrative re-centers on filial piety and family bonds: returning home includes honoring parents, and the emotional thread (desire to see Madālasā) drives the next chapter.
This is chiefly adhyāya-colophon plus Ākhyāna continuation; it is not a pancalakṣaṇa enumerative passage but part of the narrative framework.
The swift return to ‘one’s own city’ and bowing to parents can symbolize returning to one’s inner source and aligning with foundational principles before seeking the ‘beloved’ (Madālasā) as a figure of sought truth/wholeness.
