Gāṇḍīva-Nirghoṣa Episode
पूजयांचक्रिरे शड्खं कुरव: सहसैनिका: । अर्जुनेन तथा ध्मात: शतधा यजन्न दीर्यते
pūjayāṃ cakrire śaṅkhaṃ kuravaḥ sahasainikāḥ | arjunena tathā dhmātaḥ śatadhā yajan na dīryate ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Then the Kauravas, together with their troops, began to praise that conch, exclaiming, “Ah! What a wondrous conch this is—though Arjuna blows it with such force, it does not split into a hundred pieces!”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even amid conflict, genuine excellence is recognized across sides. The verse highlights how extraordinary strength and superior instruments command respect, reminding readers that virtue and capability can elicit acknowledgment beyond partisan hatred.
After Arjuna blows a conch with great force, the Kauravas and their soldiers marvel at it, praising the conch as extraordinary because it does not crack or shatter despite the powerful blowing.
