The Trigarta–Matsya Engagement at Twilight
विराट: प्रादिशद् यानि तेषामक्लिष्टकर्मणाम् । तान्यामुच्य शरीरेषु दंशितास्ते परंतपा:

Vaiśampāyana said: King Virāṭa personally handed over the protective gear to those Pandu-born heroes, whose deeds were accomplished without strain. Taking those armours, the mighty warriors—scorchers of foes—fastened them upon their bodies in their proper places, preparing themselves with disciplined readiness for the task ahead.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights righteous preparedness and responsible support: a king strengthens worthy allies with proper protection, and disciplined warriors accept and use resources appropriately, acting without vanity and with readiness for duty.
Virāṭa personally bestows armour/protective equipment upon the Pāṇḍu sons. The heroes then put on and fasten the gear correctly on their bodies, indicating immediate preparation for the coming conflict.
