Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rationale for Sending Arjuna and Request to Dhaumya

arundhatīvaṭaṃ gacchet tīrthasevī narādhipa | sāmudrakam upaspṛśya brahmacārī samāhitaḥ |

Ghūlasthya said: “O king, let the pilgrim go to the Arundhatī banyan. Having bathed at the sacred ford of Sāmudraka, he should live as a brahmacārin, his mind well-collected, and observe a fast for three nights. By this discipline a man gains the merit of an Aśvamedha sacrifice and the fruit of gifting a thousand cows, and he uplifts his entire lineage.”
