nāradā uvāca: śṛṇu rājann avahito yathā bhīṣmeṇa dhīmatā | pulastyasya sakāśād vai sarvam etad upaśrutam |
Narada said: “O King, listen attentively. I shall relate to you all this exactly as the wise Bhishma heard it from the sage Pulastya.”
नारद उवाच
The verse emphasizes careful listening and the ethical weight of faithfully transmitting knowledge as received from authoritative sources (a sage-to-disciple lineage).
Narada frames his forthcoming account by stating that he will narrate what Bhishma had earlier heard directly from the sage Pulastya, establishing credibility and continuity of the tradition.
