Parṇāda’s Report; Bāhuka’s Counsel; Damayantī’s Strategic Svayaṃvara Message (अध्याय ६८)
बृहृदश्च उवाच अभिज्ञाय सुदेवं त॑ं दमयन्ती युधिष्ठिर । पर्यपृच्छत तान् सर्वान् क्रमेण सुहृृद: स्वकान्,बृहदश्व मुनि कहते हैं--युधिष्ठिर! सुदेवको पहचानकर दमयन्तीने क्रमश: अपने सभी सगे-सम्बन्धियोंका कुशल समाचार पूछा
bṛhadaśva uvāca | abhijñāya sudevaṃ taṃ damayantī yudhiṣṭhira | paryapṛcchat tān sarvān krameṇa suhṛdaḥ svakān |
Bṛhadaśva said: “O Yudhiṣṭhira, recognizing that man as Sudeva, Damayantī then in due order inquired after the welfare of all her own well-wishing kinsmen.”

The verse highlights dhārmic social conduct: once recognition is established, one should proceed with orderly, respectful inquiry into the well-being of one’s own well-wishers and relatives—an ethic of gratitude, relational duty, and propriety (krama).
In Bṛhadaśva’s narration to Yudhiṣṭhira, Damayantī identifies the man as Sudeva and then, one by one, asks after the welfare of all her close relations and well-wishers.
