ततो<5हं लोकपालानां संनिधौ त्वां नरेश्वर । वरयिष्ये नरव्यात्र नैवं दोषो भविष्यति,“नरेश्वर! नरव्याप्र! तदनन्तर मैं उन लोकपालोंके समीप ही आपका वरण कर लूँगी। ऐसा करनेसे (आपको कोई) दोष नहीं लगेगा”
tato 'haṃ lokapālānāṃ saṃnidhau tvāṃ nareśvara | varayiṣye naravyāghra naivaṃ doṣo bhaviṣyati ||
“Then I shall choose you, O lord of men, in the very presence of the world-guardians. O tiger among men, if it is done in that public and divine assembly, no blame will attach to you.”
बृहदश्व उवाच
Legitimacy and dharma are strengthened by transparent, witnessed action: choosing a spouse in the presence of recognized authorities (here, the Lokapālas) removes suspicion and moral blame, protecting both parties’ honor.
The speaker proposes that the woman will formally choose the king/hero as her husband before the Lokapālas, so that the union is publicly and divinely witnessed and therefore free from any charge of impropriety.
