अस्मिन्‌ महामोहमये कटाहे सूर्याग्निना रात्रिदिवेन्धनेन । मारसत्‌दर्वीपरिघट्टनेन भूतानि काल: पचतीति वार्ता,इस महामोहरूपी कड़ाहेमें भगवान्‌ काल समस्त प्राणियोंको मास और ऋतुरूप करछीसे उलट-पलटकर सूर्यरूप अग्नि और रात-दिनरूप ईंधनके द्वारा राँध रहे हैं, यही वार्ता है

Translation

Yudhiṣṭhira said: “In this vast cauldron of great delusion, Kāla—Time—cooks all beings: the sun is the fire, night and day are the fuel, and the months and seasons are the ladle that turns and stirs. This is vārttā—the tale of the world.”
