Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya

tathā tvam api dharmātman karmaṇā ca viśodhitaḥ | tapa āsthāya dharmeṇa dvijātīn bhara bhārata ||

So you too, O righteous-souled one—purified by your deeds—take refuge in austerity, and in accordance with dharma, support and sustain the twice-born, O Bhārata.

Educational Q&A

Purity is affirmed through righteous action, and that inner purification should culminate in disciplined living (tapas) and the fulfillment of social-religious obligations—especially sustaining the dvijas in a dharmic manner.

Dhaumya addresses a Bharata-descended figure, urging him to follow a path of ethical self-discipline: having become purified by good deeds, he should undertake austerity and responsibly maintain the twice-born according to dharma.
