हि मय न हुक है ० - धनके लोभसे मनुष्य धनके रक्षककी हत्या कर डालते हैं। तृतीयो<थध्याय: युधिष्ठिरके द्वारा अन्नके लिये भगवान् सूर्यकी उपासना और उनसे अक्षयपात्रकी प्राप्ति वैशम्पायन उवाच शौनकेनैवमुक्तस्तु कुन्तीपुत्रो युधिष्ठिर: । पुरोहितमुपागम्य भ्रातृमध्येडब्रवीदिदम्,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! शौनकके ऐसा कहनेपर कुन्तीनन्दन युधिष्ठछिर अपने पुरोहितके पास आकर भाइयोंके बीचमें इस प्रकार बोले--
vaiśampāyana uvāca | śaunakenaivam uktas tu kuntīputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | purohitam upāgamya bhrātṛmadhye ’bravīd idam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: When Śaunaka had spoken thus, Yudhiṣṭhira, the son of Kuntī, approached his family priest and, in the midst of his brothers, addressed him in these words.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Greed for wealth can drive people to grave wrongdoing, even violence against protectors; therefore a righteous ruler seeks lawful counsel and dharmic means to meet needs, turning to guidance and devotion rather than coercion.
After Śaunaka’s statement, Yudhiṣṭhira goes to his family priest and speaks before his brothers, setting up the episode in which he seeks a solution for food in exile through religious counsel and worship (leading into the Akṣayapātra/Sūrya-related narrative).
