Mārkaṇḍeya said: “By this water, when your eyes are cleansed, you will indeed behold even beings hidden from sight; and the man to whom it is granted will truly gain such vision. Thus Sugrīva and Jāmbavān, Hanumān and Aṅgada, and also Mainda, Dvivida, and Nīla—nearly all the foremost of the monkey-heroes—washed their eyes with that water.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Purification (here, washing the eyes) is presented as a means to remove obscuration and gain clearer perception—symbolically suggesting that disciplined cleansing can enable insight into realities normally hidden.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a special water whose use cleanses the eyes and grants the ability to see concealed beings; the leading vānaras—Sugrīva, Jāmbavān, Hanumān, Aṅgada, Mainda, Dvivida, and Nīla—wash their eyes with it.
